Cleaning between the panes of an oven door is not part of our standard oven-cleaning service. It is a separate, optional specialty service that requires the oven door to be removed, partially or fully disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled.
Because oven-door construction varies significantly by manufacturer, model, age and design, Prestige cannot guarantee that every oven door can be safely disassembled or that every door will be eligible for this service.
With hundreds of oven models in use, it is simply impossible to train our technicians to be familiar with every style, design, brand and model. Technicians are never expected to disassemble an oven door when they are unfamiliar with its construction, believe the design presents an unreasonable risk, encounter a sealed or unusually difficult glass assembly, lack access to appropriate model-specific information, or are not confident that the door can be safely removed, disassembled and reassembled.
The technician has final discretion to decline the service at any time, including after inspecting the appliance in person. If we determine that the work presents an unreasonable risk to the appliance, the technician, the customer or our company, we will not proceed. We may recommend contacting the appliance manufacturer, an authorized service provider or a qualified appliance-repair company instead.
Oven doors are complex assemblies that may contain multiple pieces of tempered glass, insulation, spacers, brackets, trim, seals and spring-loaded hinges. Removing or disassembling the door may involve heavy components, stored hinge tension, fragile glass edges and parts that are difficult or impossible to replace.
Potential risks include, but are not limited to:
Some parts may be expensive, discontinued, unavailable or available only as part of a larger door assembly. Prestige cannot guarantee that replacement parts will be obtainable or that a damaged component can be repaired economically.
Before proceeding with door disassembly, Prestige may require the oven's make, model number and serial number. We may use that information to research the appliance, determine whether the model has been discontinued and assess whether replacement glass, hinges, trim, hardware or other relevant parts appear to remain available.
In the event the oven has been discontinued and necessary replacement parts are no longer available, it may be in the best interest of both the customer and Prestige BBQ and Oven Cleaning not to attempt disassembly. If an accident were to occur, even in the course of a good-faith effort, the resulting damage could potentially require full and complete replacement of the entire oven because of one damaged or unavailable component.
If replacement glass or another necessary component is available but the estimated replacement cost exceeds the cost of the door-disassembly service and the cleaning itself, Prestige will notify the customer before proceeding. In that situation, Prestige may limit any responsibility for the service to no more than the quoted cost of the door disassembly, as stated in the applicable agreement. The customer may then decide whether to proceed, decline the service or seek assistance from the manufacturer or another qualified appliance provider.
Door disassembly and interior glass cleaning are priced separately from standard oven cleaning.
By signing the agreement, you acknowledge that you have been informed of the nature and risks of the service and have chosen to proceed voluntarily.
The technician may stop or decline the work if conditions differ from what was represented when the service was scheduled, if hidden damage is discovered, if the door cannot be safely handled, or if proceeding would create an unreasonable risk.
Before beginning work, the technician may inspect the oven door and surrounding appliance for visible damage or conditions that could affect the service. This may include existing cracks, chips, scratches, loose trim, damaged hinges, worn hardware, misalignment, corrosion, prior repairs, missing parts or other signs of deterioration.
Oven doors and their components may have existing weaknesses that are not visible during a normal inspection. Disassembly can reveal or worsen conditions that were already present but not apparent beforehand. Prestige is not responsible for pre-existing damage, concealed defects, normal wear, age-related deterioration or failures caused by the condition of the appliance or its components.
Prestige BBQ and Oven Cleaning carries General Liability insurance for our cleaning operations. That coverage does not disappear simply because we remove or disassemble an oven door.
There is, however, an important limitation that applies specifically to the property we are taking into our possession and directly working on.
Our insurance agent has advised us that our General Liability policy contains what is commonly referred to as a Care, Custody & Control exclusion. When we remove an oven door and begin disassembling it, the door and its components become the property directly in our care, custody and control. Damage to that door, its glass or its components while we are performing the disassembly is therefore not covered by our General Liability policy.
This does not mean Prestige is uninsured while working in your home. Accidental damage to other property that we are not taking apart or directly working on may fall within our normal General Liability coverage, subject to the actual terms, conditions and exclusions of our policy. The Care, Custody & Control issue discussed here relates specifically to the oven door and components we have taken into our possession and are directly working on.
That distinction is important because when Prestige agrees to remove and disassemble an oven door, we are taking on a financial risk that our General Liability insurance does not cover. In effect, Prestige is self-insuring that particular risk.
We don't believe the customer should assume all of that risk. At the same time, we cannot responsibly accept unlimited financial exposure for an optional cosmetic cleaning service that may cost only a few hundred dollars—particularly when a single piece of glass or another component on a luxury appliance may cost $1,000 or more, or when a replacement part may no longer be available at all.
For that reason, we evaluate each door before agreeing to disassemble it, reserve the right to decline the service, charge separately for the additional labor and risk involved, and require a signed Oven Door Disassembly & Interior Glass Cleaning Agreement that establishes the responsibilities and financial limits accepted by both Prestige and the customer.
Our goal isn't to avoid responsibility. It's to define that responsibility before we take your oven door apart.
This service is an optional cosmetic cleaning service, not an appliance repair, restoration or manufacturer-authorized service.
Prestige will use reasonable care when performing approved work, but we cannot guarantee that every stain, drip, streak, residue or mark between the glass will be removed. We also cannot guarantee that the glass or door will look new after cleaning, particularly where staining, etching, discoloration, heat damage or permanent residue is present.
Accordingly, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Prestige's responsibility for this optional service is limited to the terms and conditions stated in the Oven Door Disassembly & Interior Glass Cleaning Agreement. Prestige does not accept unlimited liability for damage to the oven, oven door, glass, hinges, trim, hardware, insulation, seals or other components arising from the inherent risks of disassembly, the condition of the appliance, concealed defects, manufacturer design, unavailable parts or circumstances outside Prestige's reasonable control.
Nothing in this disclaimer is intended to exclude or limit liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
You are not required to authorize door disassembly. You may choose to leave the glass as-is or seek service from the appliance manufacturer or another qualified provider.
Before work begins, you will have the opportunity to ask questions, review the applicable agreement and decide whether the potential benefit of removing the debris is worth the additional risk associated with disassembling the door.
Our technicians are never expected to “figure it out” at your expense. If we are not confident that we can safely take the door apart and put it back together, we will not gamble with your appliance.
Sometimes a drip between the glass is frustrating. A damaged, unsafe or irreplaceable oven door is a much bigger problem.
